Painting Furry Creatures #2 in a series of my Cat, Dauphin
Water color painting furry creatures is a challenge. I watched a good you tube on how to paint cats by Enjoying Art
He used black Chinese calligraphy ink with wet in wet technique. I don’t have black China ink, so I just used regular black watercolor. But mostly I used pink! My art journey is teaching me how to look at things in a new way. My cat Dauphin exudes a pink color. A pink aura. And sometimes it is purple. Amazing! I like how the watercolor is coming along.

Saladin was a benevolent Muslim battle commander respected by Jews, Christians and Muslims, Sufis – many sects. This book is a translation of the original, written in the 12th century. I read it to empower my inner art jihad.
Jihad is “holy battle” and it means to overcome lower nature in order to express more godlike nature. John-Roger taught me that God is in everything. In that case, I get to choose which aspects of godliness I want to experience. Do I want to experience self-judgement and unrealistically high expectations? Mmm, nah.
How about patience and generosity of spirit? Yes! My lower nature is afraid to make mistakes. It is afraid to take risks. My personal jihad is about simply putting the paintbrush into my hand. As I allow myself into a journey of ‘imperfection’ and discovery, I experience God flowing through me. Discovery is the perfection. Perfection becomes celebrating! Today I learned about mixing colors with Makoccino on You Tube, who is adorable. It was so fun and beautiful to play with color! #1 takeaway: Some colors are “trying” to build orange, some colors are trying to build green, and some are trying to build purple! When I mix those, the blend is bright, when I mix two colors that are not leaning towards the same secondary color, (like orange, green, or purple) the blend is muddy. 🦋
